Explore art and history with the Boise Art Museum! This class offers teachers the opportunity to learn more about the experiences of Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during World War II at War Relocation Centers through three unique events. In our first session, participants will tour the exhibition Minidoka: Artist as Witness with BAM’s curator of art, meet contributing artist, Teresa Tamura, and travel to Four Rivers Cultural Center for a private tour and catered lunch. Our second session will focus on classroom activities and resources for teachers and students. The course will finish with a special lecture by Wendy Maruyama, an internationally known contemporary Japanese American artist.
