BAM Docents

BAM Docents provide guided tours to school groups and adult visitors (BAM Docents facilitate tours for more than 10,000 students each school year.) The Docents attend weekly educational training and enjoy social activities as well. New docents begin each year in January with special training sessions. If you are interested in more information, please call Terra Feast, Curator of Education at 345-8330 ext. 18 or e-mail Terra@boiseartmuseum.org

Internships

Internships at the Boise Art Museum provide college undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to experience various aspects of museum professions. BAM internships are unpaid and can run from one semester to one year, depending on availability.  We ask that interns spend about 10 hours a week at the Museum, but highly encourage a schedule that matches that of an existing program, class or project.

Currently, we have positions available for BAM Education Interns and Summer Class Assistants.

  • BAM Education Interns work with many areas of the Education Department’s responsibilities.  School semester or summer internships usually give students a broad experience with Museum Education and non-profit work – including, but not limited to, the daily functions of the department, artist research and classroom and studio preparation.
  • Summer Class Assistants work very closely with our classes for children and adults and include signing children in and out of classes, helping instructors to prepare and clean up, and helping to manage volunteers, supplies and set-up for all classes.

If you are interested in applying for an internship with the Boise Art Museum’s Education Department, send a cover letter describing your interest in museum education and what you hope to gain from this experience, as well as a current resume to drew@boiseartmuseum.org.

All internships are unpaid.
Internships are offered year-round. Start dates vary.

Teen Volunteers

The Boise Art Museum offers several volunteer opportunities for teenagers 14 – 19 years of age. This is a great way to fulfill community service requirements and to learn more about art.

  • Teen Volunteers assist with classes and camps for children during the summer and help with administrative tasks during the school year.
  • The Teen Advisory Committee is for students 14-19 years of age who are interested in developing leadership skills and learning more about careers in art and museums while fulfilling community service requirements. Teen Advisory Committee members help organize Teen Night and volunteer at family and public programs.

Teens 14-19 years of age interested in volunteering, please contact Drew Williams Larned, Associate Curator of Education at 345-8330 ext. 36
