It is hard to believe, but it has been 74 years since BAM was born!  In 1937, community members dreamed of a place in Boise where you could view outstanding works of visual art—a place that could bring people together, encourage creativity and curiosity, and inspire the imagination.  These visionaries were our grandparents, parents, teachers and mentors who left us a legacy and passion on which to build.  They volunteered their time and gave generously to make the Boise Art Museum a reality.

After more than seven decades, BAM still fulfills an essential need for our community by nurturing forms of visual arts and creativity that exist nowhere else in Idaho.  BAM continues to be a place where you can exercise your imagination, express your thoughts and emotions, and explore what it means to be human.
