Teacher Professional Development
These course offerings focus on integrating art into classroom curricula, building teacher knowledge and skills in the studio, and experimenting with hands-on, learner-centered facilitation. Investigate artwork in the Museum and create art in the studios. Collaborate with teachers across subject and grade levels. Design projects and materials for use in your own teaching environment inspired by BAM’s current exhibitions. Participants can anticipate daily art-making projects and gallery activities at BAM, paired with articles, videos, and individual projects to be completed at home.
Register for two optional Boise State or Northwest Nazarene professional development credits.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO START DATE. Classes fill quickly.
Time: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. OR 1:00 p.m – 4:00 p.m.

Learning by Making: Visible Thinking | July 20-24, 2020
Make your thinking visible by creating artwork. Experiment with ways educators can assess learning with hands-on-art and practice supporting learners in making their thinking visible. Participants will view and create artwork inspired by exhibitions including BAM’s Permanent Collection, Women in American Impressionism, Steel Medicine, The Shape of Air, and more. For your safety, masks are required.
The Boise Art Museum offers special evening events for BAM Educator Members. Educator Evenings are a great opportunity for professional educators to preview tours, participate in hands-on projects and demonstrations, review audio/visual loan materials, socialize and gather resources for the classroom.
Full time educators qualify for a BAM Affiliate Individual Membership at $35/year.
