Boise Art Museum Director and BAM Accepted into Association of Art Museum Directors

Boise, ID – Boise Art Museum is pleased to announce that Melanie Fales, Executive Director/CEO of the Boise Art Museum has been accepted into the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD). Membership in AAMD consists of directors of 220 art museums in the United States, Canada, and Mexico which meet exacting standards of purpose, size and operation. Membership in the Association is based on the qualification of the specific art museum as well as the experience and demonstrated ability of the individual director.

Established in 1916, the purpose of AAMD is to support its members in increasing the contribution of art museums to society. The AAMD accomplishes this mission by establishing and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice, serving as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas, acting as an advocate for its member art museums, and being a leader in shaping public discourse about the art community and the role of art in society.

Melanie Fales stated, “Through AAMD I hope to reach beyond my city, state and region to be involved in a group of art museum peers concerned with a common set of interests, challenges and values. AAMD membership provides an opportunity to become part of a collective voice working to further the understanding of art and art museums as essential components of vibrant communities and human existence. I welcome the chance to participate at a higher level in the national and international art museum conversation, to offer my perspective to the discussion, and to access additional resources for the benefit of BAM and the community.”
