CLASSES FOR ADULTS

BAM’s studio art program encourages the creative abilities of all participants by offering experiences in a variety of art media which provide opportunities for making connections with BAM’s exhibitions. Through reputable artists and educators, we provide quality instruction for all ages in a small-class, non-competitive and enjoyable atmosphere.  Class size is limited to optimize learning.  Participants must pre-register to reserve a space as class size is limited.  Please dress for mess!

Watercolor Open Studio Session II

Explore watercolor painting with the Boise Art Museum. BAM’s open studio format combines basic techniques for beginners, refreshers for dabbling artists and helpful hints and tips for seasoned painters.  No prior drawing or painting experience is necessary. BAM Half-Day Camps for Children

BAM’s studio art program encourages the creative ability of all participants by facilitating experiences in a variety of arts media and making connections with original works of art in BAM’s exhibitions. Through reputable artists and educators, we provide quality instruction for all ages in a small-class, non-competitive and enjoyable atmosphere. Children are required to be checked in and out of classes and camps at BAM by a parent or guardian each day.
Offered for students ages 4-12
Within each class, students are grouped by age to provide individualized instruction and attention.

The Building Blocks of Art | June 12 – 16, 2017 | Ages 4-12

June 12 - 16, 2017
Explore the artistic possibilities of simple squares and basic blocks using Sean Kenney’s artwork made from LEGO® bricks as inspiration.  Ages 4-12 (students are grouped by age to provide individualized instruction and attention.) Indicate morning or afternoon session when registering.

Art Adventures: My First Camp | June 19 – 23, 2017 | Ages 4-6

Longer than a class, but not an all-day experience, this unique "mini" camp is offered especially for younger students ready for their first BAM Art Camp! Camp participants will discover ceramics, drawings, sculptures, and other artwork from BAM's current exhibitions. Each day will bring new activities and excitement with hands on art-making experiences and gallery exploration.  Ages 4-6  Morning session only

Modern Mania | August 14 – 18, 2017 | Ages 4-12

Discover the artwork of modern masters! From Rothko to Rauschenberg, students will be inspired by artwork from the exhibition When Modern Was Contemporary and create works of art with a variety of materials and processes.  Ages 4-12 (students are grouped by age to provide individualized instruction and attention.) BAM Full-Day Camps for Children

Add excitement to your child’s Spring Break or summer with a fun-filled week of art experiences. Camp is limited to 20 students for individualized attention and safety. Students should dress for messy activities and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather. Bring a sack lunch, drink and water bottle each day. A Medical Information Card for each student will be mailed when the registration form is received. The student may attend only after the form has been completed, signed and returned to BAM. Children are required to be checked in and out of classes and camps at BAM by a parent or guardian each day.

Park Explorers (w/ Zoo Boise & The Cabin) | June 19 -23, 2017 | Ages 7-12

June 19-23, 2017 | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Ages 7-12 | Be an active explorer of artwork, animal wildlife, and culture! This camp highlights fun activities at  cultural institutions in and around Julia Davis Park.  Students will have a chance to learn more about each organization through hands-on activities and interactive experiences. Each day will be spent discovering a new topic with the Boise Art Museum, Zoo Boise, and The Cabin. Participants will begin and end each day at the Boise Art Museum. (Members of participating institutions may receive the discount member rate for this camp. Please indicate institution membership on registration form.)

Modern Masters: Breaking the Rules of Art | June 26 – 30, 2017 | Ages 7-12

June 26 - 30, 2017 | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Using modern masters like Rothko, O’Keeffe, and Pollock as inspiration, students will learn to break the rules of art! Participants will explore a variety of materials and processes as they discover ways in which artists simplified shapes and forms to share their ideas and opinions about the world around them.

Sculpting Environments w/ Zoo Boise | August 7-11, 2017 | Ages 7 – 12

August 7 -11, 2017 | 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Explore sculptures, architecture, and habitats with the Boise Art Museum and Zoo Boise! BAM’s exhibition featuring artwork made from LEGO® bricks will guide environmental exploration and art making in this week-long camp. Students will learn about sculptures inspired by the natural world and animal habitats made by humans. Mornings will be spent at Zoo Boise and afternoons will be spent at the Boise Art Museum. (Members of Zoo Boise may receive the discount member rate for this camp. Please indicate Zoo Boise membership on registration form.)
