2013 Idaho Triennial Call for Artist Entries

Boise, ID – The Boise Art Museum invites Idaho artists to submit artwork to be considered for the 2013 Idaho Triennial. The Triennial is Idaho’s premiere exhibition opportunity for Idaho artists. Held every three years, the Triennial is a statewide, juried art exhibition that reflects the quality and diversity of artwork being created in Idaho.
The 2013 Idaho Triennial is open to all artists currently residing in Idaho. Artworks must be original, produced in the last three years (2011, 2012, 2013), and not have been previously exhibited at the Boise Art Museum.
Accepted artists will have their artworks presented in a Museum exhibition from November 16, 2013 through April 27, 2014. Works will be reproduced in a Museum publication. In addition to participating in the Triennial exhibition, artists will be encouraged, although not required, to engage the community through workshops, talks, panels or performances. BAM hopes to broaden awareness of Idaho’s artists beyond the Museum walls and will consider projects and ideas for programming during the course of the exhibition, either at BAM or in the artists’ communities. BAM will produce cell phone audio guides for the exhibition, enabling viewers to access information about the artworks on their cell phones. Selected artists will record the segments that pertain to their works, providing an added link between the artists and audiences.
The juror for the 2013 Idaho Triennial is Bonnie Laing-Malcolmson, The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art at the Portland Art Museum. During two years as Curator of Northwest Art, Laing-Malcolmson has organized Portland Art Museum’s biennial Contemporary Northwest Art Awards and eight APEX exhibitions in the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Northwest Art. She has also reinstalled the historical and contemporary Northwest Art Permanent Collection galleries.
Artists must make 2013 Idaho Triennial submissions to the Boise Art Museum by May 28, 2013. Notifications will be mailed September 18, 2013.
More information and the application are available on BAM’s website.
