BAM Event Bartender

The Boise Art Museum is expanding its roster of temporary, part-time bartenders for periodic private and public events. Events at the Museum are almost exclusively afterhours, with shifts normally beginning between 4:00 – 4:30 p.m. on days when events are scheduled. Event bartenders will be given plenty of notice and opportunity to accept a shift for any given event. Applicants must be friendly, outgoing, and possess good communication skills. Event bartenders should be organized, able to think on their feet, and remain professional at all times. Applicants must have current TIPS certification, or be willing to acquire certification prior to first shift.

BAM Visitor Services Associate

Boise Art Museum’s Visitor Services Associates support the mission and safety of the Museum by sharing knowledge about exhibitions and keeping artwork and people safe. Visitor Services Associates help provide positive experiences for visitors of all ages, assist in event set-up and take-down, and staff exhibition openings.

This position is part-time and expected to work 4-16 hours per week; however, hours will vary dependent upon events and exhibition openings.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Greets and welcomes all visitors
• Ensures easy and efficient visitor flow through the Museum
• Enforces security and safety procedures and protocols in all public spaces of the Museum
• Is available to answer questions throughout the galleries, and enforce rules of conduct when needed
• Completes all required ongoing training, including but not limited to security training, audience engagement and collection training, and visitor orientation
• Understands and shares information about exhibitions, collections, the Museum building, and Museum history
• Assist the Event Coordinator in event set up and take down for private events and Museum events such as exhibition openings

Internships / Volunteering

Curatorial Volunteer | Jan-Dec 2018

The Curatorial Volunteer assists with many areas of the department’s responsibilities. In addition to major projects, the volunteer participates in the daily functions of the department and learns about Museum and non-profit work. S/he will participate in a diverse range of curatorial responsibilities related to exhibitions, the Museum’s Permanent Collection, database maintenance, and BAM’s Art Research Library.

Projects for 2018:
• The volunteer’s main, on-going project will involve object research on works in the Museum’s Permanent Collection. This will primarily entail data entry, and will occasionally include provenance research and artist research, as well as research on the historical/art historical significance of individual objects.
• The volunteer will assist with exhibition preparation during installations and de-installations on occasion, once fully trained.
• The volunteer will participate in administrative tasks and special events for exhibitions as needed.
